There's been much discussion this weekend about YA literature after a Wall Street Journal article took issue with the subject matter of a lot of modern YA books.

Lisa Von Drasek has a great round-up of responses from YA authors and readers over at EarlyWord—including a nice shout-out for SHIVER, one of our SYNC titles this summer!
Turning our eyes to supernatural romance–werewolves anyone? Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, (Scholastic, 2009) is an insightful examination of a teen whose parents neglect borders on abuse.
Read the whole piece here.
Great article! There really are some great YA books out there. And Lisa Von Drasek proves that to be all that concerned with a little language or teen behavior is a bit hypocritical... It's the stories themselves that are the draw.
I blogged about this today and hope that it draws new members to the group.  Here's the link to my post.  You are invited to visit and leave me a comment.  Thanks.
Thank you Heather!  (And thanks for the Broccoli Salad Recipe!)
Yes! I am thrilled that you are able to do this again, and with such great titles like Ashes, Ashes I really can't wait.  I will definitely pass this along to our adult and teen librarians and post it to our library's facebook.

I just texted "syncya" to 25827 so I can receive text updates about the FREE YA title downloads this summer.

Hooray!! What are you waiting for, you too can listen to YA titles for free! I can't wait :-)))

We are loving this feature.  220 listeners already signed up this way!
Thanks, Michele!  I just listened to a clip of ASHES, ASHES.  Riveting.  Terrifying.  (Can't wait).
This is FABULOUS! Just discovered this from School Library Journal! Can't wait to share with my Teens!

So happy you are the SYNC boat!  There are all sorts of tools (print, web, cellphone) here to let teens know:

SYNC--have a listen!

We now have two ways to listen to clips the upcoming free audiobook downloads.

LISTENERS: Visit the SYNC Home  page to see the list of titles -now with clips.

LIBRARIANS & EDUCATORS: You can now print weekly posters with QR Codes that lead to sound clips at the Sync Info page!  What's a QR Code?  A barcode that when scanned or photographed with a smart phone goes right to an internet browser.  With these posters, patrons can approach the poster with their phone and listen to a short clip.  Cool, em?

Fabulous!!! Love the QR Codes!
