Oh! I clicked on the "Groups" drop-down list at the top of every page and didn't see it listed. Now I know! Thanks for the heads-up!

Grover Gardner's blog post about using an iPad has started to morph into tech talk about video monitors. Maybe a new "Tech-Talk" group might be a good place to discuss topics such as bits and bytes, electrons and whirring motors, PDFs, USBs, LCDs, and BLTs. Hey, we have to eat some time!

Just joined, I'm excited about adding you to my Ning network. One request though, I often have so many things I like to look at that I forget some. Would you be able to add an RSS feed or preferably Nutshell mail to the Ning? This way the info would come to me. Thanks, this looks like a great site, I'll be sharing wiht my library friends.

I need more information about people who want to be "my friend" in this community.Don't want to sound snobby or snooty, but I have to guard my time and intenet contacts. Is there a way for people to go through my website, www.georgeguidall.com or give more info as to who they are?

The photo is "Power house mechanic working on steam pump," 1920 by Lewis Hine. In the National Archive with much of his other work documenting factory conditions in the 20's.

For a still image from Metropolis along the same lines (subject: laboring), see http://greenlanternpress.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/metropolis_fritz-lang-1.jpg

Maybe from WPA files? I don't think it's from Metropolis.

That's a cool pose. It looks like industry or mechanics. It looks like water works or a factory and you are working on letting something out or keeping it in. If it were not for the haircut, I would think it was another time period in the history of industry.
