Try these -- they've got lots of laugh-out-loud potential.   Crows & Cards, written by Joseph Helgerson, narrated by MacLeod Andrews, Brilliance Audio Hoot, written by Carl Hiaasen, narrated by Chad Lowe, Listening Library King of the…

I absolutely agree, Susan. It's a wonderful audiobook -- Jenna Lamia is one of my favorite narrators.

Great discussion-starter, Susan! While I have many favorites when it comes to children's audiobooks, we can hardly talk about this subject without mentioning Jim Dale's amazing narration of the iconic Harry Potter series. Children (and…

Sabriel is an excellent choice, Ann. Garth Nix seems to translate well into audio and the choice of narrators surely helps. :-)

For those of you who enjoy Allan Corduner as a narrator, try the Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix. Very involved and intricate high fantasy that Corduner manages with great aplomb.

Right now I'm listening to Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox. This has been re-recorded by Nathaniel Parker, who narrated the previous Artemis Fowl books thereby having become, for me, the voice of that world - both human and fairie. The books are…

Sharon, we thought your interview on NoveList was great! For anyone who hasn't read it yet, take a look for some wonderful dialog about audiobooks and their use to support curriculum in schools.

Interesting article in Time about Summer learning loss and different programs around the country that are countering it. Seems to me this would be a wonderful place for audiobooks to fit right in - that idea of learning without being in a…

How are you using audiobooks in your summer reading programs?

To all of you librarians out there... Do you incorporate audiobooks in your summer reading programs for teens? If so, how? At my library, we encourage teens to listen to earn prize points and we treat those hours of listening the same way we treat hours spending "reading with your eyeballs" (as some of my past TAB kids used to call it). On some other lists, I've seen librarians questioning the value of listening to books so I'm wondering how those of you who are signed on here promote listening…See More

Hmm, that's an interesting way to get those audiobooks moving. We do raffles for teens, but we've never thought of separating out listening from eye-reading. Thanks for the idea.

We do a bunch of summer raffles, and we do a special raffle for audiobook listening versus print reading. Anyone who listens to an audiobook can enter the raffle. Last year we gave away an MP3 player; this year, well, I'd love to get my hands…
